health books Discussions
Do you read?
What is your favorite thing to read?
Never prescribe medicines reading health books .....!
Suppose, you are not a doctor and if you have a habbit of reading health magazines, medical journals etc and if somebody is seriously ill, do you feel like prescribing medicines from the knowledge you got from reading all these books which are mentioned above? if answer is yes, please don't do that, as in some rare cases there might be a misprint which you may not be able to know unless you are a doctor and the person who is seriously ill might even die...what do you all say for this?
Mark Twain- Man Of Many Quotes
I think Mark Twain had a lot of really interesting things to say. For those who aren't sure who that is, you might remember a book called Tom Sawyer?Mark Twain made such memorable statements as:A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is still putting on it's shoes. and Be careful of reading health books, you may die of a misprint. and this one!Don't go around saying the world owes you a living, the world owes you nothing, it was here first. He has many great quotes, and I would like to see if mylotters might share some with us and perhaps tell us what they see in the quote, what they think Mark meant.

I don’t want to make him/her feel bad.”It is normal to feel sad and tearful when someone you care about is dying. These emotions can be difficult to express.
which great men uttered these great words
you should avoid reading health books - you could die out of a damn misprint!a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoesget your facts first, then you can distort them as you pleasei am not obliged to believe that the same God that has endowed us with senses, intellect, and reason have also intended us to forego their useas far as mathematical concepts and laws refer to reality, they are not certain, and as far as they are certain, they do not actually refer to functional realitiesa chair, a table, a bowl of fruit, and a violin - what else does a man need to be happy?work some and play some and drink some and eat some and dance some and paint some and work, again, everydaysomea man who does not read has no advantage over a man who cannot readwe are all born crying, we all live complaining, and we all die disappointedeveryone can make money: the question is - can most people live a life worth living?
Vinegars, a whole new world
Vinegar has some amazing claims, it'll help pull stains out of your clothes and your carpeting, add it to your homemade stock, for better digestion, it is a "miracle food", so to speak. Why are health books refering to "raw vinegar" what is the difference. This is moving beyond our typical "flavored vinegar of the month" into a whole new realm...Anyone up on all this want to fill me in?
Quotes Worth Quoting
Sometimes, when I look at my children, I say to myself~~"Lillian, you should have remained a virgin." -- Lillian Carter (mother of Jimmy Carter) I had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalog: "No good in a bed, but fine against a wall." -- Eleanor Roosevelt Last week, I stated this woman was the ugliest woman I had ever seen. I have since been visited by her sister, and now wish to withdraw that statement. -- Mark Twain The secret of a good sermon is to have a good beginning and a good ending; and to have the two as close together as possible. -- George Burns Santa Claus has the right idea. Visit people only once a year. -- Victor Borge Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint. -- Mark Twain By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you'll become happy; if you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher. -- Socrates I was married by a judge. I should have asked for a jury. -- Groucho Marx My wife has a slight impediment in her speech. Every now and then she stops to breathe. -- Jimmy Durante I...
books
i still love reading books, magazines, and newspapers everytime i have a vacant time,it makes me feel relaxed and comfortable. Health books and magazines also help. What do you particularly read?will you give me some ideas about the books you've read?
Just love the "wit" of Mark Twain
I came across this wonderful page full of quotes by Mark Twain, and I was amazed at his sense of humor, but also his deep philosophical type viewpoints of life....You can read more of his quotes herehttp://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Mark_Twain/But I like to share some that I thought were great....1). Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.2). Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear.3). I have been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened.4). I have never taken any exercise except sleeping and resting.5). If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.6). In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards.7). It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.8). Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.9). Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.10). Suppose you were an idiot and suppose you...
