| What kind of thermometer do/did you use? | | I bought an ear thermometer to use on my daughter. I figured it would be easier and more accurate but I don't think it is. I always get a low number so I will try again and get a totally different number. She hates sitting still long enough for me to check her temp under her arm. I've looked for the kinds you can stick on children's forehead and I can't find them anywhere. What kind of thermometer do/did you use on your children? | |
| | This month NASA is 50 years old. | | After reading a list of some of the things that have made everyday life easier I have changed my mind about NASA I have always thought that NASA was a waste of money just going out to outer space and putting up the space station. Just some boys extremely expensive toys but now I see it as so much more. How about cordless tools, water filters, and Adjustable Smoke Detector and here are a few more. Here are some things that NASA has given to us.
.The satellites. Everything from TV and GPS signals to Google Earth
.Air-cushioned running shoes, the Nike Air.
.The light-emitting diode (LED).
.The infrared ear thermometer.
.paper-thin, highly reflective blanket
.Artificial limb technology
.The heart pump.
.Video enhancing and analysis.
.Anti-icing systems.
.Solar panels.
.the technique of cutting grooves in roads and runways to remove water has dramatically cut hydroplaning accidents.
.Better sunglasses.
.Remote-controlled tractors with GPS systems
14. Bio detectors. A bacterial spore detector
.Wireless electrical switches
.Liquid metal used in baseball bats and hockey sticks to a luxury watch from TAG Heuer.
.Synthetic vision... | |
| | What kind of thermometer do you use? | | My son, 2 1/2, hates to have his temperature taken. It is impossible to get him to sit still long enough. I use a digital thermometer under his arm, because it is the only way I can hold him since it takes so long. I tried an ear thermometer, but it doesn't seem to be accurate. I tested it on myself a few times, comparing it to the digital one taking temperature under the arm. The underarm one is consistent, while the ear one varies by as much as 2 degrees from one reading to the next. I was careful to follow the directions closely, and still not consistent. I heard that the ones you swipe across the forehead are accurate, but they are so expensive. Any recommendations? What kind do you use, and is it accurate? How long does it take to get a reading? Thanks | |
