| I have been designing my own patterns for afghans, hats and just about anything that worked for me. In doing that I would have to buy my own yarn and figure out an estimated amount of yarn that I would need. This year I decided to try it a little easier and buy a kit from Mary Maxim. The first one I bought was with boucle yarn. It was a simple granny square pattern in larger than normal squares. The yarn was a little different for me to use and I don't think that I will use it again anytime too soon.My daughter and I are working on another kit that we ordered for a baby afghan. It's a flower motif in the middle that squares out later in the rnds. It was a great way for my daughter to pick up on crocheting being she hasn't crocheted anything since she was a kid. She's doing the squares and I will be doing the joining and the edging. Has anyone else ever ordered kits to crochet? Was it worth the time and money? Did you feel that you could have done better if you had pieced it all together yourself? |
